I met Mike at Power Monkey Camp over 2 years ago when I sat in on his nutrition lecture. I was impressed by his background and knowledge, but even more importantly, his kindness. It was a little over a year later that I began to get more serious about working toward becoming as fit and as competitive as I could be, and I knew I needed to up my nutrition game in order to be able to do so. I contacted Mike soon after to ask for his help.
I’ve been working with Mike for almost a year and a half now. The gains I’ve made in my fitness and strength are beyond what I could have imagined; but, perhaps more importantly, I’ve been able to move beyond decades of fear and anxiety about my appearance, chronic under-eating and consequent under-fueling, and allowing stress to sabotage my progress.
What we’ve accomplished:
1). I cannot believe HOW MUCH I eat (and I love it so much)! I am stronger, more resilient, energetic, and physically equipped for not only the physical challenges of training, but also the emotional challenges of life.
2). I’ve found myself secure and proud of my physical appearance, and no longer measuring myself against the impossible standard I had for myself of what I thought I ought to look like as a competitive CrossFit athlete. Eating well and eating enough, along with Mike’s wisdom and support, I was able to embrace making difficult changes in my life, and doing so without the emotional/stress under eating that had undermined my progress in the past.
3). Less than a month ago, my lab results for blood work for my annual check up with my health provider, revealed that all values for metabolic and lipid profile were in the optimal range. For me, it just doesn’t get much better than that! As a 60 year old, it’s important to me that my overall health be as optimal as it can be on this fitness journey.
I knew I needed to do better with my nutrition. At the time, I had no idea just how much better I would do. I’m so very happy, on so many levels, that I took this step for myself. I’m forever grateful for Mike’s influence in my life for what I originally thought would be just a macro plan.
